Memorial Day Weekend 2016!

Ooops! I never published this.  This was last weekend and hopefully I'll get to this weekend before next weekend, if that makes sense!

What a weekend!  The boys are now officially done with school for the summer.  Their last day was Wednesday.  Ben was bummed and wanted "4 more days" and Josh must have been bummed too because they checked the "a little fussy" box for the first time ever on his daily report.

They both had such a great year and I can hardly believe how much they've grown in 8 short months.  Look at how little they were in September!  All of their teachers had nothing but great things to say about them.  (I got to pick them up for their last day!  Ben was SO excited!)  Unfortunately, it turns out Joshy was probably a little crabby on his last day of school, it was because he wasn't feeling well.  He ended up having a fever and then threw up overnight.  Poor baby!  I truly hate when my boys are sick.

He seemed better by Friday evening and then Saturday morning he was back to his old self.  Both boys were up before the sun.  We kicked off the summer farmer's market season, went to the garden store, the fruit store, and the hardware store all before 10:00AM!  The boys were such great helpers all day.  Ben helped pick out the flowers at the farmers market and used the shovel that he insisted my mom buy for him at an estate sale because it was "just the right shovel and just the right size to help daddy."  Love that boy.  And if Ben does it, Joshy wants to do it too!  It is so cute when he copies Ben's every move.  EVERY SINGLE MOVE!  I love how much he loves his big brother.

After planting, we attempted to fly Ben's kite, but unfortunately there wasn't enough wind thanks to all of our trees. :)

Unfortunately, Ben crashed later that day and had his own fever.  :(  Sad boy, sad momma.

He had a fever, but of course did not want to take any medicine and he said he felt fine and wanted to go to the park.  That's probably one of the last things I would want to do with a fever, but Ben doesn't have time to be sick.  The only way we could get him to take some ibuprofen was to go to the park.  And as soon as the med kicked in, he looked like this:

After the park, it was early to bed with fingers crossed that the fevers and bad germs were GONE.  Thankfully, both boys were happy and healthy in the morning.  We went to church and breakfast before we made an impromptu trip to the zoo.  The weather was perfection!

After the zoo, we went to our friend's 40th birthday party.  I didn't take many pictures, but they had a putting green in their backyard so both boys were happy campers.

On Monday morning, we got everything ready for the Memorial Day Parade!  Although it was supposed to rain all weekend, the weather could not have been better.  We had reserved some spots at the parade the day before because it gets so crowded.  We had a pretty big group so I'm glad we had plenty of room.

Joshy was taking the whole parade in.  He was pretty serious for most of it, but he seemed to like it.  He loved the marching bands and of course the candy!  At one point he was double fisting suckers.  He would take a few licks and then end up dropping one in the mud.  This continued until we took the suckers away.

Finally, we ended our super weekend with our first swim of the season.  Both Ben and Josh were in heaven.

We were all beat by Monday night but oh so thankful for a long weekend.  Hopefully the rest of the week will go as quickly as our weekends seem to go!

Life Lately

I'm writing 2 posts in 4 days! :)  It's a nice, quiet Sunday night over here.  It was a low key (and rainy/chilly) weekend and it was just what we needed.  I'm just going to go through my pictures and recap what we've been up to lately.  I think the biggest events were Ben's graduation at school and our Memorial Day weekend.  I'll start with his school.  Ben has come such a long way from his days of tearful drop offs with his nee nee.

He now actually looks way too old for this toy.  Love the comparison pictures but it makes me sad that he is growing up so quickly!  Now, it looks like he's thinking, "This pig is lame.  Give me some real money."

This past year he was in the toddler room with 1 and 2 year olds.  He will be in the 2 year old room in the fall, so he had a "graduation" on his last day of school.  It was so cute to see him with all of his little friends that he talks about all the time.

Ben successfully walked over the bridge. :)

I am so proud of this sweet boy.  Love him so much it hurts.

And we love Ms. Sharon!

Here I go again with the comparisons…  (Tear!)

Luckily, Andy hasn't aged a bit!

I hope he always loves school so much!  Josh is going to be joining him at school next year.  Glad he will have his big brother there (in a different room) for protection! ;)

We had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend.  It was gorgeous out so we went to the kite festival by the lake.  Ben was more interested in throwing the football. Too cool for kites, I guess.

We weren't sure that the rain was going to hold off, but thankfully it did and the weather for the Memorial Day parade was perfection!

Aside from the fire engines (too loud), Ben had so much fun and got a TON of candy.  This is what was left after he ate about 15 pieces during the parade.

But better than all the candy were the 5 tennis balls he got. :)

Let's do another quick flashback, just for fun…

We tried with the family photo this year…

After the parade these boys definitely needed naps.

After nap time, we went to my moms to grill out.  We snuck in a walk to the park too.  Ben never turns down an opportunity to go to the park!  Or an opportunity to display his open mouth smile.

Auntie Anna had to get in some Joshy smiles.

Even Uncle Joe was there.  Josh got in some R&R.

Nana got her daily fix of Josh smooches.

And Ben needed some R&R too, because let's face it, playing basketball, baseball, football, and golf in a 45 minute time span is exhausting.

It was great weekend, but then again, any day with my 3 guys is pretty much perfection.  Already looking forward to next weekend!
