A Baby!! Anticipated Arrival: October 3, 2012

I am finally used to saying, "I'm married" and now I will be getting used to saying, "I'm pregnant!" Yes, I know we haven't been married too long, but we thought we would give this baby thing a try.  And what do you know?  It worked instantly!  While we were initially shocked that it happened so quickly, we are beyond excited!!  We got married on January 7.  On January 25, a mere 18 days later, we found out that we are going to be parents!  Woohoo!!

Thus begins the first trimester!  I couldn't wait to tell our parents and a few close friends!  It was hard not to tell the world, but we of course wanted to be cautious.  And with good reason.  We had a little miscarriage scare at about 7 weeks.  It was so horrible.  I have a whole new respect and sadness for parents who experience miscarriages.  They're MUCH more devastating than I imagined.  However, thankfully, it was only a scare, or a "threatened" miscarriage, in scary medical terms.    The little peanut somehow was able to hang in there!  Baby went from a heart rate of 108 on Monday, 2/20 to a much more stable 157 on Thursday, 2/23. What a huge relief!!  The doctor said that we will likely never know what caused this, but we are just thankful that little baby is still swimming!

And so we continue counting the weeks until the next doctor appointment appointment. Counting down the weeks until we can share our little secret.  We decided to wait until Easter, when we will be able to tell the rest of the family and then our friends too!

Yes, I know you can't really tell any changes in these pics, but it is sure fun documenting on the chalkboard!

Adios, fairly-flat stomach!
